Industrial equipment shipping: prepare an accurate delivery enquiry
Packed weight, size, delivery restrictions and customs information needed for reliable domestic or international quotations.
A reliable delivery quotation depends on the packed shipment, not just the manufacturer's bare item dimensions. This checklist helps buyers supply the required information before checkout or a formal quotation.
Confirm the destination and access
Give country, postcode, delivery type, opening hours, unloading facilities and any appointment or tail-lift requirements. Freight deliveries can differ substantially from parcel shipments.
Allow for realistic protective packing
Record the known bare item dimensions and weight separately from estimated packed dimensions and weight. Protective inserts, cartons, pallets, crates and equipment sensitivity may change the chargeable weight. Couriers may use volumetric weight in addition to actual weight.
Identify restricted and specialist goods
Batteries, pressurised components, hazardous residues and oversized machinery may need manual quotation, documentation or special carriers. International shipments may be subject to export restrictions, import duties, clearance and local taxes. The seller and consignee must use accurate descriptions and transaction values.
Review the dispatch schedule
